Groundbreaking Marks New Era of Growth and Expansion

April 5, 2019

With the turn of ceremonial shovels, construction of the Sis and Dick Miller Animal Wellness Clinic got underway at the League for Animal Welfare on March 29.

The League is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2019 with the planned opening of the new $1.5 million clinic in September. The clinic is designed to better serve the veterinary needs of League animals, as well as to provide medical services to other shelters, rescue groups and ultimately the community at large.

Built as a separate wing connected to the existing shelter, the clinic will include specialized animal intake and isolation areas, surgical and exam rooms, as well as neonatal and post-natal rooms for new moms and their litters.

“We are really excited by what this will mean for people and pets in Clermont County, and for groups throughout the region that are struggling to find affordable veterinary care for all of the homeless cats and dogs they are dedicated to helping,” said Barb Casciani, president of the League’s board of directors.

She notes that the new facility is an extension of the League’s long-standing mission to reduce the number of homeless cats and dogs in Greater Cincinnati by providing compassionate, no-kill shelter and programs that promote responsible pet care.

Construction of the clinic was made possible by the contributions of donors large and small during the League’s “More Than A Shelter” capital campaign

The League is proud to partner with KBA Architects, North Shore Construction & Development Services and PNC Bank on this expansion.
